“Craftnote was downloaded free of charge almost 100,000 this year alone”, reports Gleb Christoffel, cofounder of myCraftnote Digital GmbH, a startup by the fischer Group of Companies. One of the secrets to success: “A simple and easy-to-use app is always a priority for us, so that all company employees can get going with the tool right away without requiring expensive training”, Christoffel explains.

The programme helps trade companies to seamlessly document jobs and projects in real time. This gives employees constant access to all information while allowing them to communicate through the app (chat function). Instead of writing individual notes that are easily lost, tradespeople can document any agreements, technical details, special requests and construction phases quickly and easily using the app. “Working with Craftnote therefore saves time, prevents mistakes and makes companies look more professional in front of the customer, providing immense relief in hectic day-to-day operations”, Christoffel emphasises.

A folder structure is the beating heart of the app and allows various construction projects to be depicted as a central location for documentation and communication. The professional version of the app is available free of charge on a permanent basis and features many services such as file storage and task lists for employees. Paid modules will soon be available as optional expansions for the app, such as digital forms, time registration and interfaces. All files and documents are stored on cloud-based servers in a secure data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The Craftnote data is additionally stored in a backup system in accordance with current General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.

Craftnote is just one example of the successful digital strategy of the fischer Group of Companies. The “fischer Professional” app was recently presented with the Digital Champions Award in the “Digital Customer Experience” category by the “DigitalX” Initiative, which is held by Deutsche Telekom and “WirtschaftsWoche” magazine. The app provides comprehen-sive user information on fischer fixing products, providing valuable support to tradespeople on the construction site. Suitable fixing systems can quickly be researched and subsequently ordered in a retailer’s online store, if required.
