Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Founder and CEO of Red Dot emphasises: “The award winners are setting new standards in their industry with their products. I would like to congratulate them on their success”. The fischer Power-Fast II chipboard screw convinced the international jury with its wide range of applications and holistic design concept. The jury panel includes experienced experts from various specialist fields such as design and architecture. It is the first time that a single high-performance chipboard screw has covered such a broad range of applications. The Power-Fast II can be used for all types of wood on wood and wood on metal connections as well as in fischer plastic plugs using verified loads. The screw guarantees high load-bearing capacity and enables fast installation due to its quick bite and short screw-in time. All of its technical features, such as the thread, shank rib, and specialist geometry beneath the head have been finetuned to perfectly integrate into the overall design. The new product features are manufactured using time-honoured production techniques such as “oblique cutting” and “thread cutting”. The overall combination of its technical advantages and design make the new Power-Fast II screw an extraordinary product.

Over 6,500 products were submitted for the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020” by designers and companies from 60 different countries. The jurors tested the submissions over the course of several days in order to determine the winners. They only made their decision on the products’ design quality following in-depth discussions. In addition to their aesthetic, the products were also evaluated on their selected materials, processing, surface structure, ergonomics and function.

The fischer Group of Companies will be accepting its award at the Designers’ Night at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, which is expected to take place on 22nd June. The fischer Power-Fast II will be presented at the “Design on Stage” exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen from then on along with the other award-winning products. It will also be on show in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2020/2021 will be published in July 2020 and will feature the winning products, including the Power-Fast II.
