Various cultures and religions come together in Taiwan, such as Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism – and often within the same families. Freedom of religion is enshrined in the constitution. A new place of worship and congress centre is being built for the Christian minority among the Taiwanese as well as residents and tourists in Da Zhi, in Taipei's Zhongshan district on a surface of over 20,000 sq m (215,500 sq ft). A substantial proportion of the project is well underway and is expected to be completed in 2021. The building already displays its impressive modern architecture designed by HCW Architects & Associates from Taipei.
Around 42,000 fischer FZP II Zykon panel anchors in the 11 x 12 M6/18 Carbon variant ensure the secure anchorage of the rear-ventilated façade which is clad with white Dekton tiles by the Spanish manufacturer Cosentino. Construction of the modern building envelope was successfully completed between 2018 and 2020. “Our fixing solution convinced the client with its high load-bearing capacity, permanent safety and user-friendliness in particular”, emphasises Ralf Weber, Market Manager façade systems at the fischer Group of Companies. “But another decisive factor in being involved in the project was the professional advice and support provided to the client by our Taiwanese importer, the Fuhau Engineering Corporation Ltd.”. The fixing specialist has been working in close cooperation with its partner in Taiwan since 2001. Fuhau Engineering Corporation Ltd. offers products and services specialised in high-quality architectural aspects such as façade and interior construction. “We have already successfully completed numerous construction projects in Taiwan together with the fischer Group of Companies”, says Andrew Chiang, Managing Director Fuhau Engineering Corporation Ltd. “The brand represents quality and reliability, which makes it easier for me to acquire local projects. I also appreciate the international outlook and technical support aspect of the partnership”.
The fischer FZP II anchors fasten the Dekton panels measuring 900 x 1550 x 20 mm together with the locally manufactured façade substructure to the supporting structure of the rear-ventilated façade of the new church in Taipei. The cladding material made by the Spanish manufacturer Cosentino is made using a high-tech procedure involving glass, ceramics and quartz and is highly resistant to UV rays, heat, frost, stains, scratches and other wear and tear. “Dekton offers joint-free installation”, Ralf Weber states. “This creates a uniform and harmonious look together with the concealed, reverse-side fastening with our undercut anchors – a clear advantage compared to edge fastenings”. The fischer FZP II provide a form-fit and expansion-free fastening in the conical undercut drill hole. This technology allows planners and façade construction specialists to fully utilise the technical material properties, which achieves lower slab bending moments and higher load-bearing capacities. “The optimised static system and the increased blow-out power allow larger-sized panels of the same thickness to be used in comparison to edge fixings on projects around the world”, explains Ralf Weber. “As an alternative, thinner and lighter panels can also be used in the same format. These are simple to install, which reduces construction times and project costs.
As a result, the energy-efficient façade of the new church in Taipei combines contemporary thermal insulation, climate control and a healthy indoor climate with a uniform and graceful look to which undercut technology fastenings make a significant contribution. The professional anchorage ensures lasting safety and longevity while reducing maintenance costs and increasing sustainability.
