The fischer Group of Companies, Diamond Sponsor of the 15th fib International PhD Symposium, has communicated the upcoming market launch of structural strengthening and concrete repair mortar assortments in the Hungarian capital of Budapest for the first time.

The maintenance, rehabilitation and repair of existing structures present without doubt one of the greatest challenges for today’s construction industry. It is not without reason why fischer selected the prestigious civil engineering conference in Budapest for the upcoming market launch of new assortments. “We believe that the 15th fib PhD Symposium was a very good and important platform to announce the launch of our new assortments and a good opportunity where we could reach out to an international structural engineering community with this very exciting news”, says Dr Máté Tóth, Head of the Business Unit Structural Retrofitting at the fischer Group of Companies.

The technical sessions of the 15th fib PhD Symposium revolved around different topics of structural engineering: innovations in concrete and concrete technology, maintenance, retrofitting and strengthening of concrete structures, durability of existing concrete structures and durability for future structures, innovations in metallic and non-metallic reinforcements, sustainability of materials and structural systems, and 3D concrete printing, among many other topics.

The fib PhD Symposium took place from 28 to 30 August in the historical central building of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in Hungary. The outstanding building had already hosted various international engineering conferences and has been operating as the largest education center of Hungarian engineers. Approximately 300 attendants took part in the symposium, including civil engineers and PhD students, planners, building contractors, and academics from across the globe.

During the conference, fischer also presented its fixing solutions, especially those which are related to the upcoming structural strengthening solutions as well as to the concrete repair mortar assortments. The interaction between the conference attendants and the fischer booth was very intense. The addressed conference session topics as well as the feedback confirmed the importance of structural retrofitting, which is one of the key fields of fischer’s future corporate strategy.

The fischer Group of Companies will shortly launch new product assortments in the field of structural strengthening and concrete repair mortars. The availability of the new assortments might vary from country to country. The new structural strengthening products will cover various applications with carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates and carbon fibre (CF) fabrics. The new carbon-fibre-based products build a very strong and unique synergy with the already existing fischer products for post-installed rebar connections and with the products for concrete overlay strengthening solutions.
