fisco system solutions made of fi:resist, a glass fibre-reinforced composite material, are ideal for entry and exit platforms, service routes, railings, handrails and many other safety-critical applications. Advantages such as its A1-certified fire resistance as per DIN EN ISO 13501 make the material ideal for tunnel applications, particularly in rail infrastructure. fi:resist is the world’s first non-combustible fibre-reinforced composite material made by pultrusion.

Modernising and expanding rail infrastructure is more important than ever to make rail transport more efficient, reliable, and sustainable and to prevent it from becoming obsolete. The fully inorganic glass fibre-reinforced composite material fi:resist by fisco GmbH offers key advantages for multiple rail infrastructure applications. fisco specialises in safety-critical system solutions such as entry and exit platforms, including entrances and exits or stairs, as well as service routes, railings and handrails. Unlike conventional glass fibre-reinforced composites, fi:resist meets fire regulations in tunnels due to being non-combustible with an A1 certification according to DIN EN ISO 13501. The advantages of glass fibre-reinforced composite materials used in rail infrastructure can therefore be used in tunnel applications for the first time thanks to fisco’s material technology.
In addition to its non-combustible properties, fi:resist offers many other advantages. This material is lightweight, stable, highly resilient, heat, corrosion and UV-resistant, electrically non-conductive and permeable to radio signals with low thermal conductivity.

The modular setup of fisco’s system solutions allows it to be individually tailored for preassembly and for different areas of application. Entry and exit platforms consisting of profiles and elements provide added flexibility to suit the respective structural conditions and the requirements of the customer and project. Depending on the location and timeframe, fisco can also arrange for the components to be preassembled, which significantly speeds up the construction progress. Uncomplicated screw connections between the profiles and elements make installation even easier and quicker. fi:resist’s significantly lower weight compared to steel or concrete further increases efficiency as it is easier to transport and requires less labour and machinery to install. Its lower weight means the system is able to withstand additional load. The slip resistance requirements as per DIN 51130 were fulfilled according to rating groups R11/R12/R13, which is important for applications such as platforms or service routes. Thanks to the materials’ advantages, fi:resist guarantees lasting and permanently safe applications in tunnels, rail infrastructure and other types of constructions, even under extreme conditions. The material simultaneously increases efficiency and productivity on the construction site.

fisco GmbH is fully owned by the fischer Group of Companies and specialises in manufacturing and processing fibre composite materials through pultrusion. With innovative product systems and advanced material technology, the company is constantly expanding into new applications and markets. The fibre composite specialist supports its customers from the initial idea, research and development stage to the manufacturing process and provides on-site support, whether it’s an individual profile or a system solution.
