Wood is a popular choice of building material, including for multi-storey buildings. And no wonder, as this renewable resource is climate neutral and offers excellent physical properties, strength combined with low weight, a high degree of prefabrication, fast processing, excellent insulating properties, a healthy indoor climate and a unique look. fischer fixing innovations allow wood to be processed in all its shapes and sizes, utilising the material to the fullest extent. In addition to this, fischer offers solar systems for various fixing situations when installing solar systems on roofs.
One of the oldest building materials is experiencing a renaissance, as wood is more popular than ever in construction. fischer offers the ideal fastening innovations for processing this popular building material.
FIS EM Plus for bonding in wood
A new general design approval (aBG)/technical approval (abZ)/European Technical Assessment (ETA) is advancing timber engineering. The fischer FIS EM Plus injection system for compliant bonding of FIS A anchor rods or FIS IG internal threaded anchors now enables a multitude of connections and reinforcements in timber, including concealed connections. The injection system allows high loads to be transferred and enables a wide range of timber engineering applications. A comprehensive range of accessories and system components made of zinc-plated and stainless steel in various sizes enable various indoor and outdoor applications with the FIS EM Plus. Flush fastening points can be created with the innovative FIS IG internal thread solution, which prevents anchor rods from protruding during transport, which could be bent or take up space for other components. Together with the FIS EM Plus, the FIS IG can be dismantled flush with the surface, allowing the fastening point to be reused with ease.
New additions to fischer’s range of screws
The fischer PowerFast II wood construction screw firmly expands or pulls wood components together with its partial thread, enabling many different designs. Its ETA covers many different types of wood and timber materials. The screw is available in versions including stepped countersunk, countersunk, disc heads and a hexagon head with a pressed-on washer in diameters of 8 to 12 mm depending on the version. The innovative stepped countersunk head can be fully inserted into the wood so that fixtures can be screwed in flush. Its novel screw geometry means the screw can also be used in low edge and axial spacing, enabling even more designs. Further special features include a thread that extends into the screw tip, shaft ribs and a high-performance slide coating that makes the screw quick and precise to use.
fischer’s PowerFull II premium full thread screw with diameters of 6 to 10 mm is also ideal for wood-to-wood and sheet steel-to-wood connections. In addition to conventional softwoods, the wood construction screw is suitable for use in solid woods. Thanks to its optimised head and thread geometry, the latest PowerFull II generation ensures ideal processing, a reduced screw-in torque, and maximum force transmission while requiring little effort and battery power. Its unique core-milling geometry enables low edge and axial spacing and high loads without any pre-drilling. The special tip geometry makes it easy to place and insert while reducing the splitting behaviour in the base, even in extreme conditions such as slanted screw connections.
fischer additionally offers a wide range of chipboard screws for ideal connections between chipboard and other wood materials, as well as many additional screws for a diverse range of applications. fischer’s PowerFast II chipboard screws can be used for any wood-to-wood and wood-to-metal connections and for approved loads in plastic plugs by fischer.
Problem-solving solutions for connecting wood and concrete
fischer UltraCut FBS II concrete screws are perfect for anchoring timber and steel fixtures to concrete. Different versions are suitable for different levels of impact or to bridge thicker fixtures. fischer offers another problem-solver with its FSW adjusting washer, which makes it easy to adjust and align beams and joists together with the fischer UltraCut FBS II US (with a hexagonal head and a moulded washer) in a 10 mm diameter (gvz) and the PowerFast FPF-PT wood connection screws. These are a clever solution for evenly aligning inferior purlins or winding sticks on uneven floor surfaces or concrete foundations while erecting roof trusses or entire prefabricated houses, for instance.
The FAFS fischer adjusting screw makes infinitely adjustable stand-off installation quicker, simpler and more precise. To achieve this, the PowerFast II version features a clever clip on the head of the screw that prevents it from rotating during adjustment, a special operating principle with the corresponding bit and setting tool, in addition to other technical ingenuities.
A direct fastening tool: The FGW 90F setting tool
With the fischer FGW 90F gas-actuated setting tool, nails can be driven into the desired spot from any direction with precision with a setting energy of 90 joules, allowing up to three nails to be placed per second. Compatible ring and smooth shank nails in different lengths allow applications in many different substrates, including solid wood, plywood, OSB board and chipboard as well as laminated veneer lumber. The embedment depth can be adjusted with the setting dial. A powerful Li-Ion battery achieves more than 8,000 fastenings per charge and is compatible with the FGC 100 gas-actuated setting tool that enables the direct fastening of fixtures in concrete and steel.
Sun meets roof – a future-proof connection
fischer’s new solar systems are ideal for installing solar panel systems on pitched roofs with various covers, solar panel layouts and alignments. System solutions consisting of rails, roof hooks, brackets, stud screws and other accessories cover any type of requirement, offer a high degree of flexibility with the advantage of quick and easy installation and guarantee a high level of product quality for lasting safety and functionality throughout the system’s entire service life. fischer recognised the trend towards photovoltaic energy generation as early on as 2006. fischer’s Italian subsidiary developed fixing systems for PV systems in close cooperation with fischer’s solar experts around the globe. With the current international rollout of its solar systems, fischer is drawing on approximately 18 years of valuable experience and successful projects.
