The fischer fixing systems company division once again contributed more than average to the good results, with a turnover close to that of the previous year. The company was disproportionately successful with significant growth in many of the 38 countries in which fischer is represented by a total of 50 subsidiaries. This also includes the German market. Several additional countries in Europe and Asia, including China, also ended the 2020 financial year on a positive note.
The fischer Automotive division also achieved a stable sales performance despite the many restrictions the automotive industry experienced due to the coronavirus crisis.

Success with startups
fischer continued its successful activities in the market in 2020 with its startups. Several of these young companies are housed in the new fischer InnovationCampus, located next to the company headquarters in Tumlingen. The campus was launched in May 2020. Startups and additional staff groups can generate new ideas and innovations in a creative environment in Klaus Fischer’s former parental home, outside of the everyday work environment, to quickly lead these to successful market maturity.

Investing in digitalisation
Despite significant cost savings, fischer made investments in key issues of the future such as digitalisation in 2020. These included digital services for tradespeople such as the fischer Professional app with its new installation protocol function and the Craftnote app, in addition to useful Building Information Modelling (BIM) planning aids and services and the fischer Fixperience design software. fischer is furthermore supporting the online sales of its trade partners with e-commerce solutions by providing comprehensive information and crucial everyday collaboration functions in its new myfischer partner portal. The fischer Academy also expanded its wide range of on-site training offers with online seminars for dealers, tradespeople, planners and structural engineers.

A popular company among apprentices
Education has been of the utmost importance at fischer since the beginning. 109 apprentices and dual degree course students are currently employed by the company. Overall, fischer provides training for 31 different technical and commercial jobs. The fact that fischer also continues to be an attractive company to young people is evidenced by the high level of demand in the past financial year, during which the number of applications per apprenticeship and dual degree course place increased by six per cent compared to the preceding year.

fischer has won multiple awards in recent years for its outstanding training, including an award for ‘Germany's Best Training Company’ in 2020. Other awards included ‘TOP National Employer’ and ‘Most Popular Family Business’ as well as the new ‘Host of the Year’ award and ‘Germany’s Best Canteen’ for the second time running. fischer was also presented with the German Sustainability Award 2020 (in the large businesses category) in late 2019, Europe’s biggest and most important award in the field of sustainability. Over the course of the year fischer won further awards as ‘World Market Leader Champion’, ‘Germany’s Best Employer’ and ‘Top Employer Brand’.

2021 outlook
Due to the continuing uncertain situation in the global markets because of the coronavirus pandemic and unfavourable economic policy decisions that impede sustainable economic activity, fischer will not be making a prognosis for the current financial year.

The startup activities of fischer will continue at a high level in 2021. The fischer InnovationCampus that was opened last year will continue to be rolled out across international sites in the current fiscal year. Production will also commence in the new subsidiaries in 2021, with fischer fixing systems in Vietnam and fischer Automotive in Serbia.
