A multi-stage evaluation process has determined that the fischer Group of Companies is among the top 3 in the large businesses category. An independent panel of experts chaired by Prof. Günther Bachmann, Secretary General of the German Council for Sustainable Development, selected the frontrunners who will enter the final round in the race for the coveted award on 7th December in Düsseldorf.

“This award is very special to our company”, says company owner Prof. Klaus Fischer. “I would like to congratulate all members of staff for this accomplishment. I would particularly like to congratulate all those who dedicate their time to the topic of sustainability at our company with such success!”

The fischer family business has firmly anchored sustainability within its strategy, according to the jury’s explanation. The manufacturer of fixing technology (plastics, chemical and steel), vehicle interiors and toys (construction kits) stands out due to its resource-saving procedures such as “simplification”, which has led to a 10 per cent reduction in the use of raw materials per year. This guarantees consistent quality with a reduced use of materials. The company’s above-average innovative power through the successful incorporation of its employees furthermore promotes the development of sustainable products such as the “fischer greenline” range, which consists of at least 50 per cent bio-based materials.

The German Sustainability Award is the national award for outstanding sustainability achievements in economy, communes and research. With five competitions, over 800 applicants and 2,000 guests the award is the biggest of its kind in Europe. The award is presented by the German Sustainability Award foundation e.V. in cooperation with the German Federal Government, central municipal organisations, trade associations, civil society organisations and research facilities. The award ceremony will be taking place on the occasion of the German Sustainability Day in Düsseldorf.
