The mighty crawler excavator is ready for action in the toy construction site as soon as it has been assembled. Just like its large role model, it is put into motion by its crawler track. The best part? The excavator arm and bucket are controlled by a hydraulic drive, just like the enormous construction equipment. The only difference is that the hydraulic pumps of the impressive construction site excavators use oil, while the fischertechnik models use water as a hydraulic medium for the transmission of power.
This is how the system works: the control cylinder, which is operated manually, pushes the water into the power cylinder through tubes. The power cylinder then extends, thereby moving the excavator arm of the bucket. Three different crawler excavator movements can be hydraulically controlled in this manner.
The PROFI Hydraulic construction kit contains five different models. Additional hydraulic models can be assembled with 4 control cylinders, 4 power cylinders, crawler tracks and a bucket.
Inspiration, ideas and educational background information can be found in the accompanying material on the eLearning portal of the fischertechnik website (www.fischertechnik-elearning.com).
This construction kit once again reflects fischertechnik’s motto “a playful grasp of technology” to the fullest extent.
