Extensive efforts were put into creating the Xinghai financial and trade centre around Xinghai Square in Dalian. The area is now gaining a new addition with the Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center, which is setting new standards among the city’s surrounding office buildings with a total building floorspace of 160,000 square metres over 44 overground and 4 underground storeys. The building towers at a height of 204 metres and is set to become the city’s latest landmark, architecturally on par with the World Towers in Beijing and Hong Kong’s International Finance Center.

The Dalian branch of the China State Construction Engineering Co. Ltd. was responsible for the building’s design, while the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co. Ltd. was commissioned with its construction. The renowned Hong Kong landscaping company Belt Collins was in charge of designing the green surroundings of the office complex. The installation of the facade made of modern glass elements proved to be highly challenging. The Broad Group was responsible for the concept and execution and were faced with the issue of the load-bearing capacity while anchoring the facade elements. In order to guarantee absolute safety, the entire fastening system, including the anchor channel and channel bolts was subjected to detailed calculations and inspections.

The FES anchor channels are highly adjustable, which makes it easier to install the facade elements. The screw connection system eliminates the need for on-site welding and drilling. Thanks to its particularly high load-bearing capacity, the Cast-in Channel System is also suitable for heavy and demanding applications. It can also be used in various concrete surfaces. “Using our anchor channels saves significant time and costs while preventing damage to the existing construction”, Dr. Roland Unterweger states, summarising the advantages. “A truly exclusive office complex has been created in China using our Cast-in elements”.
