Building envelopes must meet ever growing requirements. Rear-ventilated facades meanwhile have to fulfil increasingly complex requirements in terms of sustainability, safety, protection, air conditioning and a distinguished appearance. fischer BWM facade systems guarantee a positive ecological balance through high energy savings and a consistent circular flow economy, a long service life plus the advantage of creative freedom.

Creative freedom and functionality
Visible or concealed fixing solutions by fischer BWM facade systems are suitable for all standard cladding materials for rear-ventilated rainscreen facades and fulfil every aesthetic requirement. The modern facade technology also provides a healthy indoor climate, as rear-ventilated rooms constantly dissipate the moisture from the structure and living spaces. The fischer BWM facade systems provide additional benefits such as simple, easy and fast installation, low maintenance requirements, a long service life, effective protection against weather conditions and high energy efficiency. In addition to a permanent and secure hold and efficient thermal insulation, the functional and technical advantages also include the option to install a fireproof barrier and non-flammable insulating material, integrated lightning protection through a conductive substructure as well as improved soundproofing.

A wide range of substructure solutions
The fischer BWM all-in-one system of compatible products with tested and approved individual components includes a comprehensive range of substructure solutions. With the acquisition of BWM Fassadensysteme GmbH from Leinfelden-Echterdingen in 2018, the portfolio of the fischer Group of Companies expanded considerably. fischer BWM now offers various substructures to fasten rear-ventilated facades from a single source. The solutions range from visible fastenings for lightweight panels using rivets or drilling screws to hook solutions for facade cassettes as well as aesthetically appealing concealed fastenings with the fischer Zykon panel anchors FZP II.

Today, the comprehensive range of aluminium supporting structures (ATK) features systems that enable extensive prefabrication, simple application and fast installation. These also include substructure solutions that have been specially tailored to the problem areas of rear-ventilated structures, such as variable systems and systems with thermal isolation to the benefit of improved energy efficiency and sustainability. The ATK 601 stand-off anchor construction, the ZeLa bracket and the new FLH-R wall holder received the ‘certified passive house component’ certificate by the independent Passivhaus Institute certification body. The certificate contains all parameters (punctual thermal transmission coefficients) and documents the unique position of the supporting structures compared to conventional wall constructions available on the market. ATK 601, the ZeLa bracket and the FLH-R wall holder provide added benefits with their high planning reliability and broad range of applications.

fischer has established a secure and energy-optimised solution to transfer loads from rear-ventilated rainscreen facades into the substrate with the new FLH-R wall holder. The innovation minimises thermal conductivity thanks to its stainless steel material and triangular notches that reduce the open cross-section.

The right solution for any fastening application
Almost any facade panel can be visibly fastened using rivets or drilling screws, while ceramic tiles can be fastened with brackets. Angled metal cassettes can be attached to the facade with bolt suspensions. The fischer undercut anchors provide a form-fit fastening without expansion pressure in the conical undercut drill hole and are concealed when viewed from the facade’s exterior. The undercut anchor system is completed by the well-engineered and compatible drilling and installation technology as well as additional accessories. Thanks to its broad range of undercut anchors, fischer BWM is able to attach almost any type of cladding material to the facade.

It is therefore possible to use facade panels made out of natural stone from a thickness of 20 mm, single-pane and laminated safety glass from a glass thickness of 10 mm, as well as ceramic tiles, fibre cement and HPL plates from a thickness of 8 mm. Individual panels or all panels can subsequently be exchanged with ease through the use of hook-on profiles. Even reveal panels can be fastened easily and with a high degree of flexibility. The varied panel thicknesses can be compensated through the use of stand-off anchor types. This method also allows the realisation of an element facade as well as factory prefabrication.

The long-established technology of the fischer undercut anchors enables the bending stress of the panel to be reduced by up to 50 per cent compared to standard edge fixings (mandrel, kerf cut and/or plug mandrel fixings or bracket solutions) through the statically adjustable position of the anchor in the 1/5 point on the reverse of the panel. This technique achieves lower slab bending moments and higher load-bearing capacities. This allows more freedom during planning and execution, while better use can be made of the respective technical material properties. The optimised static system and the increased breakout forces allow larger-sized panels of the same thickness to be used in comparison to edge fixings. Thinner and therefore lighter panels can also be used, which are economical to purchase and transport, thereby making installation easier.

The fischer BWM facade systems business unit works in close proximity to markets and customers, fischer subsidiaries and local partners across the globe. fischer BWM facade systems offer compatible solutions and all-in-one systems with approved fixing solutions for a market segment of the future.
