The fischer DUOTEC 12 offers increased functionality and an enhanced spectrum of applications in board materials. These include gypsum plasterboard, gypsum fibreboard, hollow stone ceilings, hollow concrete blocks, prestressed concrete hollow core slabs, cavity ceilings as well as boards made of wood material, plastic and metal.
Like all fischer DUOTEC variants, the new version is suitable for high loads in board materials with thicknesses of 9.5 to 80 mm through its red-grey toggle element made of glass fibre reinforced plastic, far surpassing the performance of common plastic or cavity fixings. The new fischer DUOTEC 12 provides a recommended service load of up to 1.5 kN depending on the subsurface. The metal reinforcement inside the toggle provides additional load bearing capacity when carrying loads in any type of board material - including wood and metal. Multiple fixings of wall units, for example, can be carried out with fewer fixings, reducing time and cost.
fischer DUOTEC fixings can take on significantly higher loads than common plastic toggles without damaging the gypsum plasterboard. This is made possible because the grey, soft bearing side doesn’t cut into the board’s surface, preventing damage to the bearing construction material. The red, hard component towards the cavity additionally distributes high loads across the entire supporting surface.
The fischer DUOTEC 12’s field of applications includes all fixing projects on hollow walls and ceilings, such as installing wall cabinets, shelves, wardrobes, hand towel holders, handles, rails, large pictures, mirrors, lamps or consoles, for example for televisions. As a member of the fischer DUO-Line, this is an intelligent red-grey two-component fixing for construction material. The fischer DUOTEC autonomously decides on the appropriate toggle or expansion function depending on the fixing subsurface. If, for example, a wooden stand is located behind the gypsum plasterboard, the fischer DUOTEC will automatically act as an expansion plug. The installation object can therefore be attached even without a cavity behind the board.
The fischer DUOTEC 12 has assumed the special geometry for the flexible selection of screws and hooks from its siblings with a drill hole diameter of 10mm. This is made possible by small stainless steel metal plates in the red component. The option to use M6 screws is a new feature. A commercial 12 mm drill is sufficient for enabling quick and easy installation. The toggle element has a length of just 39 mm, making it easier to install in insulated or narrow cavities. The tape measure markings on the fischer DUOTEC 12 also allow the determination of the optimal screw length to ensure secure fixture.
The curved part of the grip allows the user to feel out obstacles in the cavity, such as substructures, cables and pipes. The fischer DUOTEC is inserted into the board material through pre-positioned installation. During insertion, the user must position the toggle element parallel to the detent of the grip, which is flexibly connected. The fixing is then inserted into the drill hole with the arrow facing forwards. The grip helps with alignment, while featuring an adjustable collar sleeve with which to fix the fischer DUOTEC. The toggle element automatically toggles behind the board.
The glass fibre reinforced collar sleeve is pushed flush into the drill hole along the grip’s detent, reinforcing the drill hole and increasing the shear load capacity. The white collar sleeve smoothly and evenly inserts itself into the fixing substrate, rendering it practically invisible on white walls. The protruding part of the grip can simply be broken off without requiring a tool. Simply screw on the installation object – and done. The screw can be loosened without the toggle losing its position if a mounted part has to be removed, for example in order to be cleaned or replaced. The toggle can withstand being screwed in and loosened multiple times.
